100 Calories. What is your 100?

One of the biggest issues I believe people have with losing weight and trying to get fit is that they over complicate it. They want to try the newest diet trend, find out what the “best” workout is, and lose the pounds within days. This is unrealistic of course and also just adds more stress.

Keep things simple and break down your goals for a healthy lifestyle. Make these small goals for you to achieve. Start small and bigger things will come – I promise.

What prompted me to think about this was when I recently heard about Chobani’s new Simply 100 Greek yogurts (only 100 calories). They also have this great idea about finding your 100 and what it is you can do to burn 100 extra calories. Such a simple, small, and easy goal!

It’s so easy to burn an extra 100 calories a day and I bet you didn’t even realize that. When you think of all the different activities you do, there are times that you just burned that many calories and didn’t even know it – doing something you enjoy or is a part of your daily routine! Do a little bit more of that and you burn a little bit more. Not complicated!

Check out some of these great ideas:

So I challenge you to think of what YOUR 100 will be. For instance, take 100 more stairs a day, 100 more steps, 100 jumping jacks, 100 crunches, anything! Those things don’t take a lot of time but they give you different, small, and achievable goals to look forward to.

I have always loved the 100 calorie concept in terms of food as well. Another simple idea. One of my favorite lunches to make during the week for work is a sandwich with a 100 calorie snack. It helps keep me in check. You often think grabbing just a handful of chips here and there is “nothing” when in reality, that could add up to 300 or more calories – easily! This helps your meal stay more balanced.

It’s also great for that 3:00 pm snack time when your stomach is grumbling but you don’t want to eat a huge meal since dinner is around the corner. Greek yogurt has more protein than regular yogurt which is great for you and something I’m trying to get more of. These Greek yogurts are a great option!

So what is YOUR 100? What goal can you make today to burn just 100 extra calories? Or what goal can you make to do 100 more of like 100 more stairs? Don’t make a healthy lifestyle complicated! Just think of it as 100 calories at a time. Find your 100 and see how it changes your attitude. And your waist line.
