Big Move

Life changes when you have a baby.  I can’t tell you how many times I was told this while I was pregnant.  And it’s absolutely, 100% true.

Having Adyson is one of the best things that have happened to my husband and me.  It’s also been one of the hardest.  Raising a human is TOUGH!  But what changes isn’t just your sleep, the amount of showers you take, or your finances, it’s also the way you think.

My husband and I don’t put all our needs first anymore; we have another person to consider.  We have to factor in the needs of our daughter and not just what we want.  The things that we thought we wanted have changed.  It’s not really that we are giving something up, we just have changed the way we thought our life would go prior to kids.

So we started thinking about where we want to live, how we want our daughter to grow up, and our current situation.  Brett and I absolutely LOVE Chicago.  If it was just Brett and me we would be there forever in our condo downtown.

But it’s not just Brett and me anymore.

So when Brett recently received a job offer in Nashville, closer to my family, and in a place that seems like a great area for our children to grow up, we decided to take it.  It was the hardest decision we have had to make in our marriage so far.  We agonized over it and went back and forth on what we wanted to do.  So much opportunity and things we love about Chicago but also the exciting possibilities of what Nashville could bring.

It may sound dramatic but we are somewhat devastated to leave our beloved Chicago.  We love living in the city, walking wherever we want, needing only one car, all our restaurants close by, and so many other amazing things about that city.  We have wonderful friends here and so much has happened for us in this city.

But right now we are in a different place.  We have a family now and those other things don’t seem as important.  We are excited for a neighborhood, a school for Ady close by, a house instead of a condo, a yard to play with our kids in, and having some family close by so we might get some date nights out as a couple!  It will be different living the city life and now living in a new place.  But we are ready to take it on, together, as a family.

We have already bought a house and can’t wait to move in now.  As sad as we are to leave Chicago, we are starting to get just as excited to start our life in Nashville.

Change is really scary.

But if we don’t try this out, we might always wonder “what if”.  And life is too short for that.

So off we go!  Chicago will always have a special place in our heart and we will be back to visit many times.  Who knows how this will go in Nashville but we’re going to see.  We are excited for this new adventure, new jobs, and a house.  We are going to do it together as a team and have fun while we are at it.

I will continue my blog of course and can’t wait to share more of my health and fitness world along with all my new discoveries in Nashville!
