Chicago Marathon 2015 Recap: It just wasn’t my race

If you follow me on social media then you probably already know that my race did not go as planned last Sunday. I finished way off my race goal (and far from my other finish times). To be honest, once I knew I wasn’t going to make my goal I sort of gave up and just made sure I finished the race. Finishing a marathon is an accomplishment, no matter what your time is. It is hard though when you…

Update on Marathon Training and tapering makes me crazy

(Crossing the finish line of my first marathon with my friend Christy – in Chicago!) The 2015 Chicago Marathon is 11 days away. I am 11 days away from running 26.2 miles. Am I prepared? As much as I’m going to be. I have mentioned a couple times in some previous posts that while I have been keeping up with my long runs on the weekends, the shorter runs during the week haven’t been as great. I have to do…

9 Reasons to Join a Running Group

I posted not too long ago about going out of my comfort zone. I joined a running group! More specifically, a training group for the Chicago Marathon. I found a group here through Fleet Feet. Lucky me, there are two (Brentwood and Green Hills) and they had a training group going…

A Great 20 Mile Run (seriously)!

This is going to sound crazy but I had a GREAT 20 mile run this past weekend. It was the second, and last, long training run before the Chicago Marathon in THREE weeks! The last 20 mile run I did a couple weeks ago went okay but I was really pushing myself at the end. I was out of energy, hurting, sore, tired, and just wanted it to end. But for some reason, this last 20 mile run wasn’t as…

Training for a Marathon – with your Significant Other

(2013 Country Music Marathon) (2013 Country Music Marathon) (Hot Chocolate Race – Chicago) (Brett came out to support me run the Women’s Half Marathon – Chicago) In my opinion, training for a marathon is so much more fun when you do it with someone. You have someone to not just run with but vent to, compare runs, talk about all things running related, and the extra support is super helpful. It gets a little more interesting though when the person…

Top 5 Favorite Places to Sweat in Chicago

I’ve been missing Chicago quite a bit lately so it’s been on my mind. Summer time was always the best there so since that fabulous time in Chicago is here I’m getting a little bummed I’m not there. While I’ve been daydreaming of runs on the lakefront I thought that maybe I should do a roundup of my favorite places to work out in the Windy City! I’ve been to many gyms and run almost all over Chicago so I…
