Wine and Popcorn

I mean, the title of this post at least has your attention, right? Wine? Always. Popcorn? Yes, please! I personally love this little combo for a late night snack after the kids are in bed and my husband and I are watching a movie (assuming I don’t fall asleep during it these days!). I will fully admit that at the end of the day I love unwinding with a glass of wine. After a long day at work, getting everything…

When You Can’t Run… But You Can Walk

I am 5 weeks postpartum right now. Usually, most doctors do not clear you to exercise until you are 6 weeks out for a vaginal birth or 8 weeks for a c-section. Based on this, I should be cleared at the 6 week mark. However, my previous doctor in Chicago did let me start exercising at 4 weeks after my first pregnancy because I ran the entire nine months. Pregnancy #2 Recap: Health, Fitness, and Weight

Keep things simple and break down your goals for a healthy lifestyle. Make these small goals for you to achieve. Start small and bigger things…

Morning Sickness Relief: My experience taking Diclegis

I’ve mentioned in some recent posts that my morning sickness was in full force during the first trimester of this pregnancy. Worse than it was with the first one. It was so bad that I had to call the doctor, wave the white flag, and ask for something to help me get through the day. (Photo via firsttimemommy.net) My doctor prescribed me Diclegis. I was hesitant to take anything honestly because I just hate the thought of putting any medication…

When you run a marathon… and then find out you’re pregnant

I ran the Chicago Marathon (my 4th marathon) back in October. In my recap post I talked about how the race did not go as planned and I did so much worse than I thought I would. These things happen in any race and to any runner but there were a number of factors I identified that led to my poor performance. What I didn’t realize at the time was that one of those factors was that I was pregnant!…
