I’m THAT Mom and I don’t feel guilty about it

I’m the mom who works out. And I make it a priority. And no, I don’t feel guilty about it. As Moms, there is so much “mom guilt” out there and it can really tear you down. Really, really bring you down. A lot of it we put on ourselves and a lot of it is pushed on us by others. I know many moms are continuously trying to fight off this guilt (me included). A lot of what this…

A summer cold?! And how it’s affecting my running

I’ve been suffering through a cold for over a week now (yes, over a week!). I am ready for it to go and I can tell I’m almost fully recovered but I’m still only about 85% of my normal healthy self. I’ve been armed with Advil Cold & Sinus, Mucinex, tissues, and cough drops. Yuck. What a crappy thing to get in the summer right? Because of this unwelcome sickness, I have had to change up my workout and running…

Top 5 Favorite Places to Sweat in Chicago

I’ve been missing Chicago quite a bit lately so it’s been on my mind. Summer time was always the best there so since that fabulous time in Chicago is here I’m getting a little bummed I’m not there. I’ve been to many gyms and run almost all over Chicago so I…

Where to find your next RACE!!

It’s no secret I LOVE running races. The whole experience is great to me. I have run numerous races and I have to say one of the hardest things about planning my races each year is actually finding them. When I was living in Chicago, I would get some serious winter blues so I would start planning my races in January for the summer and fall. I would have to search around online to find different ones. To be honest,…

Recipe Round Up: What I’m Loving Lately

Since I try to eat healthy most of the time, I am always on the hunt for new recipes to make. I generally like to make things that taste great, are quick and easy to make, and don’t cost a fortune. I get these recipes from all over – searching the internet, Pinterest, and getting suggestions from my stepmom. In fact, most of them are recommended from her because she’s a great cook and likes to eat healthy too. Lucky…

How I plan to teach my children about health and fitness

I am 11 years older than my “little” sister. I put little in quotes because she’s actually not little at all, she’s about 3 inches taller than me but you know, it’s that whole she’ll-always-be-little-to-me thing. Because of this though, I remember so many things from her childhood. The other day I was thinking about how I want to raise my own daughter to be healthy and take care of her body when I remembered a conversation my sister had…
