7 Tips on Adjusting to a New City

We have completed our move from Nashville to Charleston and it has kept us very busy.  It was exhausting figuring out the whole moving process, calling utility companies multiple times, arranging care for our cat, finding new doctors, unpacking, getting new driver’s licenses/vehicle plates, and many other things that took up way more time than I would have liked.  My GPS on my phone is my constant best friend as I still try to navigate my way around this new…

Nashville Moment: Gentry’s Farm

The other weekend we went to Gentry’s Farm in Franklin with some of my family. It’s been a long time since I have been to any sort of farm or pumpkin patch. It was the first weekend it opened and it was a great thing for the kids to do. I really liked this place and it’s a great fall activity for the family. I like that you pay at the door (kids under 2 are free!) and then that’s…

9 Reasons to Join a Running Group

I posted not too long ago about going out of my comfort zone. I joined a running group! More specifically, a training group for the Chicago Marathon. I found a group here through Fleet Feet. I loved Fleet Feet in Chicago and knew they had training groups and just group runs in general so I figured I would look one up here in Nashville. Lucky me, there are two (Brentwood and Green Hills) and they had a training group going…

Nashville Moment: Brunch at Biscuit Love

Brett and I are suckers for a really good brunch. It’s our favorite meal and we love finding a new spot to dine for it. We had plenty of places we loved in Chicago so we have been scoping out the scene here in Nashville. A couple weekends ago we decided to try Biscuit Love in The Gulch. Brett’s co-worker recommended it and I was definitely up for trying it out! I had a 17 mile run that morning on…

A Great 20 Mile Run (seriously)!

This is going to sound crazy but I had a GREAT 20 mile run this past weekend. It was the second, and last, long training run before the Chicago Marathon in THREE weeks! The last 20 mile run I did a couple weeks ago went okay but I was really pushing myself at the end. I was out of energy, hurting, sore, tired, and just wanted it to end. But for some reason, this last 20 mile run wasn’t as…

The Weekend and That Was Dumb

I’m happy to report that I did both my planned workouts this weekend. However, I did something really dumb. For my cross training workout on Saturday I did a leg workout. Then Sunday I ran 10 miles. So how do you think my legs are feeling? Terrible! Every part of my legs is currently aching. I don’t recommend working similar muscle groups like that 2 days in a row. It really wasn’t smart of me but Brett was doing that…
