Making Dinner Simple: Theme Nights!

(A Meatless Monday dish I made!)

Trying to decide what to eat for dinner is the biggest decision in our house.  It takes us forever to decide what to eat!  I’m not sure why but my husband would probably say it’s my fault for being so indecisive.  And he’s probably right!

I’m the type of eater where I can eat the same things over and over.  I know – boring!  But I just can.  I know what I like and don’t mind eating the same things.  But my husband loves variety.  He gets sick of eating the same things.  What’s this family to do?

Well, my brother-in-law and nephew actually gave my husband and me a great idea.  One day he was talking about different theme nights they have.  Then last weekend our nephew kept talking about “Taco Tuesday”.  That spunky little 3 year old gave us a perfect solution!

We are going to try doing theme nights.  This way, we know a general idea of what we are having so we don’t have to try and decide every day.  But, we can still get variety with each theme.

Let me give you an example.  The other night was Taco Tuesday right?  So I made chicken tacos.  Next week on Taco Tuesday, I am thinking of doing pork tacos.  Or on Burger Friday, we can do grass fed beef burgers, a turkey burger, or even chicken burgers.  Now we have a plan of what to eat each week but my husband still gets the variety he enjoys.

Here are our theme nights we have:

Meatless Monday

Taco Tuesday

Whatever Wednesday

Italian/Asian Thursday

Burger Friday

Surprise Saturday

Salad Sunday

We left two days open so we can mix it up.  Whatever Wednesday is an order in night or we come up with a new fun recipe to try.  Surprise Saturday is our going out night.  We love to try new restaurants so we are reserving this night for just that.

I love having a plan in place for our busy family!  We can have healthy meals with some variety each week!
