Mother’s Day 2015
I had such a great Mother’s Day yesterday. It was just such a good day to spend with my family and I really, really enjoyed it. Plus, I discovered some new spots in Nashville, possibly the best brunch I have ever had, and found out my little girl is going to be quite the water baby.
Brett and Ady woke me up with a cute little card. Ady was holding it in her hand waving it at me. It had her footprints and handprints in it. So adorable.
We had decided a few days ago to do brunch so Brett picked out a place by asking some co-workers. This was not a day to worry about calories and being too healthy. We all need days to splurge and hey, I felt I deserved it!
We headed to East Nashville to get brunch at Marche. You can’t make reservations so there was quite the line out the door but we didn’t mind since we weren’t on a schedule. Brett and I decided to get a mimosa and split some biscotti while we waited. Ady was so good, just taking in all the people and things around her. She is quite the social butterfly. The mimosa was delicious and I’m not normally a huge biscotti person but I would definitely eat that one again. It had a hint of cinnamon that just made it perfect.
We ended up only waiting about half an hour which wasn’t bad! Everything on the menu looked so good but I finally settled on the eggs/grits/bacon dish. Brett went with crepes and then just because we could get a half order of the croissant French toast, we did. (Remember, calories weren’t a concern today, ha!)
And oh my, the food was SO GOOD. Brett and I love brunch and it’s something we really enjoyed going out for in Chicago. We thought Chicago had the best restaurants (and they do) BUT let me tell you, this place could rival numerous places we have eaten in the Windy City. I think I told Brett three times that it was the best brunch I have had. Ady enjoyed it as well and I’m pretty sure she is never going to want to eat baby food again now that we have given her as taste of “the good stuff”.
After brunch, we headed across the street to an outside flower market. Brett and I have really wanted to get a plant that we can actually keep alive. We are really bad with plants but we are working on our green thumbs. We picked out a pot to put on our front door step and hopefully it will be around for a while!
During the half marathon I ran a couple weeks ago, I ended up running through this neighborhood that I had never seen before in Nashville. I told Brett about it so we decided to head over there and see what it was about.
It’s the 12 South neighborhood and such a cute area. We took a little stroll through the neighborhood and popped into a bar, Embers Ski Lodge. We ended up chatting with the owner who is also from Chicago – small world! We immediately decided that we would be back to the 12 South neighborhood many times. I can’t wait to try more places there.
Once we were done exploring Nashville we headed home so Ady could get in her afternoon nap. Brett came up with a great idea to get out our blow-up pool and take Ady for a little swim on our back porch. I couldn’t wait! So when she woke up from her nap, we went for it. This was her first time in the pool and she absolutely LOVED it! She was squealing, laughing, and splashing around. I think you will know where to find us this summer – at our neighborhood pool once it opens!
The rest of the day we just hung out. Brett did all the cooking and cleaning which is what most moms want on Mother’s Day anyway, right?! 🙂
I feel so thankful, happy, and blessed to have such a wonderful family. It was a great day finding some new spots to see in our new city and just living in the moment. I am one happy momma.
I want to encourage you to follow along in my health journey through what I learn and experience. I hope there is something you can take away from Fit Busy Female that inspires you to start taking control of your health and feeling better every day.
