Need some motivation? Maybe you should go shopping!
My in-laws were very generous to me on my birthday and gave me a gift card to a great store for workout clothes. I was really excited when I got it! Surprisingly, I only own one piece of clothing from this particular store. I used to just always buy stuff that was on sale or cheaper. I figured that I was just going to sweat in it so what does it matter? Turns out it might matter a lot!
I don’t want to sound materialistic and that’s not what this is about. But the store I went to does have really good clothes in my opinion. After running in the tank top I bought – I got it. It’s just better clothing. So, I was really happy when I got to go shopping for some more clothing from there.
The clothes you run in, workout in, zumba, spin, whatever you do, isn’t about having the “coolest” thing there is. It’s about liking what you are wearing and feeling good in what you are wearing. You want to feel confident and comfortable as well. This is what I think is really important. If you feel all of those things I truly believe you have a better workout.
So my suggestion is just simple – it doesn’t have to be expensive or the coolest thing out there but make sure you are investing in good clothes that you like and make you feel comfortable. Physical activity is essential for your health and feeling good in what you are in while you are working out makes a big impact.
After my little shopping spree the other night I decided to go out for a run in my new clothes. Despite coming down with some sort of cold and feeling pretty tired, I felt great on my run! I felt confident, comfortable, and it just felt good to have some new gear on me. I know it might sound silly but try it out! If you are in a workout rut and need some motivation, do a little shopping for yourself and see how you feel. And this type of shopping is totally excusable… it’s for your health after all. J
*Also remember, for those of us who are busy – online shopping has come a long way! It won’t take long to invest in some new gear!
