Adjusting to TWO

I thought I would write a post about how life is now that I have two little ones. A lot of people told me that when you have your second child it’s not twice as hard but ten times as hard. I agree and disagree with this. A lot of it is as expected. I feel more comfortable with a baby this time around since I’ve done it before. I also enjoy the moments I have more because I know…

When You Can’t Run… But You Can Walk

I am 5 weeks postpartum right now. Usually, most doctors do not clear you to exercise until you are 6 weeks out for a vaginal birth or 8 weeks for a c-section. Based on this, I should be cleared at the 6 week mark. However, my previous doctor in Chicago did let me start exercising at 4 weeks after my first pregnancy because I ran the entire nine months. I thought about asking my current doctor if this would be…

Morning Sickness Relief: My experience taking Diclegis

I’ve mentioned in some recent posts that my morning sickness was in full force during the first trimester of this pregnancy. Worse than it was with the first one. It was so bad that I had to call the doctor, wave the white flag, and ask for something to help me get through the day. (Photo via firsttimemommy.net) My doctor prescribed me Diclegis. I was hesitant to take anything honestly because I just hate the thought of putting any medication…

My Fitness Routine During Pregnancy – Baby #2

My first pregnancy with my daughter was fairly comfortable (as far as pregnancies go), I had a good amount of energy for the most part, and I had a really great labor (5 1/2 hours total and she was here!). I truly think the reason for all this is because I exercised my entire pregnancy. So this time I plan to do the same – mostly. The first trimester is a just-do-whatever-you-can time for me. I did whatever I could…

2015 Recap and 2016 Goals

It’s still hard for me to believe that 2015 is over. It was big year for me personally and for us in our family. Among the list of things that happened in 2015 are: we sold our condo in Chicago and moved to Nashville, bought a new house, both Brett and I started new jobs, Adyson started daycare for the first time, I ran a half marathon and my 4th marathon, I found I’m pregnant again (it’s a BOY!), I…

When you try to do a workout video – while watching your 1 year old

So the other day I posted this picture of me attempting to do a workout with Ady hanging out in the room. I was all excited and feeling empowered in one of those look-at-me-I-can-do-it-all moments. Well, I wish I could share that that it went well and I finished the workout within 30 minutes. But I didn’t. It went a little something like this: Ady was playing fine on her own and then decided she was hungry. Pause video. So…
