Marathon Recovery and the Cutest Running Shoes

There are tons of articles out there on the proper way to recover from a marathon. I encourage anyone who wants to run a marathon to read them. You can find a lot of useful information in many of them that will be helpful to you. For me, my main focus in the few weeks after a marathon is to let my body heal and rest and to prevent injury. With every marathon I’ve run, recovery has come easier in…

Why Quality Workout Clothes Matter

When I first started running and really working out I had no idea what type of clothes to wear. Thinking back, I still can’t believe I wore old cotton shirts or clothes that didn’t even fit me properly. They were uncomfortable, caused the dreaded chafing, and I didn’t feel good in them at all. I was of the mindset that I was just going to sweat in the clothes I wore so did it really even matter what I was…

Chicago Marathon 2015 Recap: It just wasn’t my race

If you follow me on social media then you probably already know that my race did not go as planned last Sunday. I finished way off my race goal (and far from my other finish times). Update on Marathon Training and tapering makes me crazy

(Crossing the finish line of my first marathon with my friend Christy – in Chicago!) The 2015 Chicago Marathon is 11 days away. I am 11 days away from running 26.2 miles. Am I prepared? As much as I’m going to be. I have mentioned a couple times in some previous posts that while I have been keeping up with my long runs on the weekends, the shorter runs during the week haven’t been as great. I have to do…

9 Reasons to Join a Running Group

I posted not too long ago about going out of my comfort zone. I joined a running group! More specifically, a training group for the Chicago Marathon. I found a group here through Fleet Feet. I loved Fleet Feet in Chicago and knew they had training groups and just group runs in general so I figured I would look one up here in Nashville. Lucky me, there are two (Brentwood and Green Hills) and they had a training group going…

A Great 20 Mile Run (seriously)!

This is going to sound crazy but I had a GREAT 20 mile run this past weekend. It was the second, and last, long training run before the Chicago Marathon in THREE weeks! The last 20 mile run I did a couple weeks ago went okay but I was really pushing myself at the end. I was out of energy, hurting, sore, tired, and just wanted it to end. But for some reason, this last 20 mile run wasn’t as…
