When You Can’t Run… But You Can Walk

I am 5 weeks postpartum right now. Usually, most doctors do not clear you to exercise until you are 6 weeks out for a vaginal birth or 8 weeks for a c-section. Based on this, I should be cleared at the 6 week mark. However, my previous doctor in Chicago did let me start exercising at 4 weeks after my first pregnancy because I ran the entire nine months. I thought about asking my current doctor if this would be…

100 Calories. What is your 100?

One of the biggest issues I believe people have with losing weight and trying to get fit is that they over complicate it. They want to try the newest diet trend, find out what the “best” workout is, and lose the pounds within days. This is unrealistic of course and also just adds more stress. Keep things simple and break down your goals for a healthy lifestyle. Make these small goals for you to achieve. Start small and bigger things…

Love Low-Cal Cocktails?!

It’s no secret that alcoholic drinks can add up to a lot of calories.  One margarita alone can have 500 calories.  Just one!  I do love margaritas though.  Paired with a good bowl of chips and some salsa… it’s a perfect combo.  However, this isn’t so great for the waist line or your health. I am glad I tried out so many different barre studios because as the title of this post points out: not…

Check-In: Six Months Post Baby

Six months.  Our little girl is already 6 months old.  I can’t believe it.  It seems like it’s gone so fast but at the same time, so slow. If you would have asked me 6 months ago where I thought I would be at this point, it’s pretty laughable.  I would tell you that my baby would be completely sleeping through the night, I would be fitting back in my favorite pair of jeans, and would have being Super Mom…

What they didn’t tell you – when breastfeeding DOESN’T help you lose weight

The woman’s body is a tricky little thing.  It’s fascinating actually how it works.  I realized this even more after having a baby.  The fact that my body can produce a human is pretty insane.  The fact that I then produce milk to provide for my baby just adds to it.  We all know that breastfeeding provides great benefits to your baby.  And one of the things I heard most while pregnant was how it will get you back to…
