The Weekend and That Was Dumb

I’m happy to report that I did both my planned workouts this weekend. However, I did something really dumb. For my cross training workout on Saturday I did a leg workout. Then Sunday I ran 10 miles. So how do you think my legs are feeling? Terrible! Every part of my legs is currently aching. I don’t recommend working similar muscle groups like that 2 days in a row.

It really wasn’t smart of me but Brett was doing that workout on Saturday so I thought I would join him and didn’t think I would be all that sore. Oops! My legs felt like rocks as I was running. But, I finished the run and did my 10 miles that was on the schedule! I just look a little goofy trying to walk around right now. I’m sure by tomorrow I will be fine and hopefully my legs will be stronger for it!

Besides the workout and run, we did some other fun stuff this weekend. We went to the splash park in downtown Nashville and Ady had such a good time. She loved seeing all the other kids and she is not afraid of the water at all.

Afterwards we had to stop at the car dealership to get my oil changed so we went to a restaurant close by called Wild Ginger. It has Asian cuisine and sushi. It was delicious! If you live in the suburbs of Nashville I definitely recommend it. I had the basil chicken which was really good but Brett got fried rice and I think I will be getting that next time. Their edamame is also the best I’ve ever had. And their kids meals are HUGE.

Saturday night my younger sister came over and we had a Mexican themed night. Brett made his “famous” homemade salsa and then they each made margaritas that I got to be the judge of and do a taste test. I don’t mind being a judge for that!

On Sunday was my run which was tough as I mentioned. My legs were really heavy but I stopped to stretch every few miles and took it easy on my pace. It was also super-hot (of course) so every time I stopped at the water fountain I poured water over my head. That’s another great tip to help cool you down.

Afterwards, we all headed to lunch at The Pharmacy downtown. There was a wait as usual so Brett and I had a beer while waiting. It was a local IPA and Brett wasn’t crazy about it but I really liked it. I have wanted to try their burger for so long! I can honestly say it was pretty amazing. And they have a pretty good kids menu too so Ady really enjoyed her grilled cheese.

Once we were done there we headed to the splash park again since it was close by. We didn’t stay too long since Ady was getting tired. She slept on the way home. The rest of the weekend has just been relaxing. And I talked to Brett into giving me a leg massage to help with my sore muscles! 🙂
