Weekend Workouts and Protein Shakes (and other fun stuff)

Saturday was a cross training day so I did the Upper Fix video on 21 Day Fix. And then I chased a toddler around…

My training plan called for 12 miles on my long run day. I normally do long runs on Sundays and because we have a child, Brett and I haven’t been able to do these together… until now!

My parents were able to watch Ady (thanks guys!) while we went out for a run. I forgot how much I love running with another person and especially my husband. Due to the child I just mentioned we don’t get as much time to catch up as we used to. We love that little human more than anything but it’s just harder to have dialogue with each other when you have a toddler to attend to every morning and night (trust me, you try it). So we spent miles running and talking about what’s going on at work and just life in general. It was the best run I’ve had in a long time.

Brett didn’t want to do the full 12 miles though so he finished at 9 miles and ran back to the car. I went off on my own to finish out 3 more miles then meet him back at the car. It was a little tougher since I had already been running and was now running alone but I actually increased my pace and finished strong. The last mile is always the hardest no matter what distance I’m running though!

My legs were definitely a little sore but nothing too bad. I should really work on stretching more though!

Afterwards we went to brunch at one our favorite spots in downtown Franklin, 55 South. We picked up our little lady on the way.

Brett has also been making the best protein shakes. I usually think protein shakes are kind of gross actually. I just chug them down as fast as I can because I want the protein but they usually don’t taste great. I am SO happy that I now found ones that I enjoy. And since Brett makes them for me, I love them even more!

We use the Magic Bullet and Brett throws in 2 scoops of protein powder (100 calories total), banana, strawberries, and sometimes blueberries and/or raspberries if we have them on hand. He then fills it up with ice and tops it off with milk. It’s delicious!

I will definitely be consuming more of these.

The marathon training continues this week and I even got in 4 miles this morning at an 8 minute mile pace! I was super happy. Although, that was probably because I have been up since 3:45 am with a teething toddler. So I was already up and a little frustrated at the lack of sleep in our house for the past week and a half. I’m sure I will crash soon.

Hope you are all having a good week!

I want to encourage you to follow along in my health journey through what I learn and experience. I hope there is something you can take away from Fit Busy Female that inspires you to start taking control of your health and feeling better every day.
