What’s for dinner? There are apps for that!

What’s for dinner? Does anyone else get as stressed about this question as I do? I know it’s silly. Of all the things in the world, I really shouldn’t stress about what to have for dinner. But without fail, I usually do.

I want the dinner to be something that tastes good (of course), is healthy, and doesn’t take a lot of time to cook (because there is usually a toddler hanging on to my leg).
So I struggle to find recipes or I just repeat the same ones over and over… and over. While it’s great to have those favorites in your rotation, I think we can all agree that we need to mix it up once in a while.

So, as they say… is there an app for that?

Apparently there is! But with a catch, there are multiple apps for that. Ugh, I know, feeling back to square one aren’t we?

Luckily, I recently received some information about a website that has done the work for us – they have tested and run these apps through the ringer to pick the best ones. So now, yes there’s an app for that and you can rest assured knowing it’s a good one.

Reviews.com is a site that sounds just like what it is – a bunch of reviews! They review all sorts of things from the best protein powered to yoga mat to what the best recipe app is. Anything like this that saves me time is a winner!

They recently reviewed a lot of recipe apps to help people like us know which the best ones are. I found it really interesting that they even consulted a software development engineer at Amazon and the executive chief of The Westin Seattle to get opinions on what the best things to look for are in an app and in the culinary world. They spent 45 hours doing research which is time that this busy mom definitely doesn’t have.

What was the result? According to their research, the best overall app is the Allrecipes Dinner Spinner app. If you read my post from yesterday then you know the recipe I posted about is actually from the Allrecipes site! This made me super happy so instead of having to go and look online then email myself the recipes I like (super inefficient, I know) I can just put the app on my phone and use it there.

If you’re a more experienced cook, unlike myself, they recommend Paprika Recipe Manager. The two other winners were Food Network – In The Kitchen and Yummly.

Having an app to help with recipe planning is so helpful. My phone is always with me so I can look up a recipe whenever I want. I can go to the grocery store, find a recipe, and buy everything there. This takes a big chunk out of the planning process for me.

I personally love that the Allrecipes app also shows people’s comments from actually making the recipe AND it shows nutrition information – perfect for staying on track with that healthy lifestyle! Skip that drive thru when you’re in a pinch and use this app instead!

So I encourage you to check out the research they did at Reviews.com right HERE. There are so many fun things they reviewed and recommend on their site. If someone else is doing all the research for me on this stuff, I’m sold.

I want to encourage you to follow along in my health journey through what I learn and experience. I hope there is something you can take away from Fit Busy Female that inspires you to start taking control of your health and feeling better every day.
