When you try to do a workout video – while watching your 1 year old

So the other day I posted this picture of me attempting to do a workout with Ady hanging out in the room.

I was all excited and feeling empowered in one of those look-at-me-I-can-do-it-all moments.

Well, I wish I could share that that it went well and I finished the workout within 30 minutes.

But I didn’t.

It went a little something like this:

Ady was playing fine on her own and then decided she was hungry. Pause video. So I gave her crackers and string cheese. Resumed the workout.

About 1 minute later she decided she wanted me to hold her. Pause video. I mean, she’s normally squirming like crazy and won’t sit still for 10 seconds so I take any chance I can get to hold her. It lasted about 30 seconds. Resumed workout.

A couple minutes later I’m doing a plank and she comes over and starts to pull on my hair. She thinks it’s hilaaaarious. Pause video. I had to ungrasp my 1 year old child’s hand from my hair. (Baby super powers – her grip is seriously strong!) Resumed workout.

A couple minutes later, she decides she’s hungry again and I can tell she wants dinner early and she’s just not going to wait. Pause video.

Yep. So while I love to show that I’m getting in a good workout, the reality is it just sometimes doesn’t happen like we plan it. And I get that. Prior to having kids I wouldn’t have understood. But Moms, I gotchya. Doesn’t always happen.

I didn’t completely give up though. Brett got home as I was almost done feeding Ady dinner so Daddy took over and guess where Mommy went?

Upstairs to finish her workout.

So at least I did do the workout I had planned, just not at the time I had planned it!

I want to encourage you to follow along in my health journey through what I learn and experience. I hope there is something you can take away from Fit Busy Female that inspires you to start taking control of your health and feeling better every day.
